Till we meet again
2019, bed & frame 66 x 58 x 47”
Nearing the end of the show All
Together Now, I was acutely aware that I needed something to house all the
materials that made up the show. I could not just discard the product of my
endless labor, organization, and sorting. Therefore, I sewed up a sleeping-bag
type sack out of found fabrics and took absolutely every piece of material that
was in the show (from tiny pieces of confetti to planks of wood) and stuffed
them into the sack. As it was filled, the bag began to take on the form of a
mattress or comforter and the physical weight of the piece lent itself nicely
to this. At this point, I was most literally permanently combining everything ‘all
together now’.
Till we meet again is the relic of the site-specific installation All Together Now. The work itself sits on a custom bed-frame made from recycled materials that metaphorically puts the disparate materials to rest.
I enjoyed taking small pieces of the student body community and creating this time capsule of sorts.
